A husband and wife are currently battling to save their lives in an undisclosed hospital as suspected unknown gunmen over run Uduere community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The unidentified couple were attacked at Eyanvwien/Abovwe quarters of the community, Monday as they were returning to their house when the incident occurred. It was learned.
Though, the report is sketchy, it was gathered that the incident happened between 8:30 to 9:pm and it has thrown the community into confusion.
According to a source from the community, “Though we could not ascertained who the people were because, those that saw them disclosed that they was masked.
“They hoodlums were about 10 in numbers in a group and those that saw them, thought they never had the intention to attack our people, if not they would have arrested them.
“The attacked husband and wife had gone to buy probably food items for their dinner and on they way back, the hoodlums attacked them with matchete and other dangerous weapons as residents scamper for their lives.
“After attacking the couple, they robbed some houses a before the y vanished into the forest without any trace of them by community youths.
“The injured couple were immediately rushed to an unknown hospital for treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
“The unfortunate incident disorganized the entire community and as a result we have to open our eyes till this morning just to protect ourselves.”
“They entered the community very early and those that saw them did understand their mission, they masked their faces to avoid recognition and we are suspecting insider. The anonymous community source revealed.
A security source from the Ughelli Area Command who confirmed the incident disclosed that investigation is ongoing.
